New Mexico Interior Design Act - SB 456

As you may know, the ASID New Mexico chapter and the IIDA Southwest chapter have been working on this bill in the state legislature that would do the following:

Grant "permit authority" to any licensed interior designer, thereby allowing them to submit plans and specs to state, county, or municipal building officials, to obtain a permit for only the interior design part of the project.

Both Utah and Colorado allow permit authority for qualified interior designers. Without it, New Mexico interior designers are at a competitive disadvantage and an unlevel playing field relative to architects and engineers.
